Alâeddin Hill (Alaaddin Park)
A centuries-old tree-shaded mound-park at the city's heart; Konya's meeting place.
📖 The Story
A mound thousands of years old, Alâeddin Hill is the historic core of the city, once home to the Seljuk palace. Today, with its ancient trees, tea gardens and nostalgic tram, it is Konya's favourite place to relax. The Alâeddin Mosque crowns the hill, and its surroundings are ideal for a walk and a break.
Beneath the hill lie unbroken settlement layers reaching back to 3000 BC; the shelter roof on the north slope guards the last standing wall of Kılıçarslan II's pavilion. The nostalgic tram's loop around the hill is crowned by tea-and-simit afternoons in the shaded gardens.
