📖 The Story

Completed over the reigns of several sultans in the 12th-13th centuries, it is Konya's oldest and most important Seljuk building. Its many-pillared hall holds a green-and-blue tiled mihrab, an ebony minbar and royal tombs. Eight Seljuk sultans are buried here.

The ebony minber of 1155, signed by master Mengümberti of Ahlat, is the first dated masterwork of Anatolian Seljuk woodcarving. In the decagonal tomb in the courtyard rest sultans from Kılıçarslan II to Alaeddin Keykubat I.
