📖 The Story

Displaying the rich archaeology of the Ereğli area, the museum is notable for finds from İvriz. Hittite, Phrygian, Hellenistic and Roman objects, coins and ethnographic collections can be seen here. It is an ideal start for grasping the region's history before exploring.

The museum's inspiration is the İvriz rock relief near Ereğli: showing King Warpalawas giving thanks to the fertility god Tarhundas, it counts as Anatolia's best-preserved Late Hittite monument. The halls show that culture's seals, coins and daily objects; sarcophagi and inscriptions wait in the garden.
