📖 The Story
Built in 1299 by Eşrefoğlu Süleyman Bey, the mosque is famous for its 48 interlocking wooden columns raised without nails and its magnificent tiled mihrab. A central snow-well keeps the timber humid and preserved. Regarded as the masterpiece of Anatolian wooden mosques, it is on UNESCO's tentative World Heritage list.
