📖 The Story

In a deep Taurus valley, cascading over travertine terraces on the Göksu River, Yerköprü is Konya's most impressive waterfall. Its name ('earth bridge') comes from the water flowing through an underground passage. The surrounding greenery and cool air make it a wonderful escape on hot summer days.

The waterfall's secret is travertine: the calcium-rich Göksu petrifies moss and branches in its path, weaving terrace upon terrace; at one of them the river dives underground and is reborn a little further on. April to June brings the strongest flow and brightest green; the short but steep path down calls for proper shoes.
