📖 Its Story
Türkmen is a neighbourhood of the Ereğli district of Konya, Türkiye. It lies about 7 km north of the district centre.
In older records the settlement appears as Atmalı Çiftlik (1919); the present name Türkmen became established later. The name Türkmen Köyü is of Turkish origin, meaning "the name of an Oghuz tribe". Turkmen families settled here in a later period.
Historic sites recorded nearby include Çiller Köprüsü (~4 km).
