📖 The Story

Ilgın Kaplıcaları stands about 2.5 km west of the district centre, on the Ilgın–Akşehir road at the foot of Hamam Mountain. It was built in two stages: first in 1236 under Sultan Alâeddin Keykubad, then enlarged in 1267 during the reign of Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev by Sahip Ata Fahreddin Ali. The 16×20 metre structure runs east to west and has separate women's and men's sections; the dome of the men's section has eight skylights, and the interior is paved in marble. Ilgın Municipality added a third bath building in 1968. The women's bath yields roughly 14 litres per second and the men's 35–40 litres per second; this water also supplies nearby hotels and motels. The site is leased from the General Directorate of Foundations and run by Ilgın Municipality.
