📖 Its Story

Çiğil is a neighbourhood of the Ilgın district of Konya, Türkiye. It lies about 28 km south of the district centre.

In older records the settlement appears as Çığıl Süfla (1928), Aşağıçiğil (1926); the present name Çiğil became established later. Turkmen families settled here in a later period.

Çiğil adı Çiğil Türklerinden gelmektedir. Ilgın ilçe merkezine 33 km, Konya il merkezine 75 km, Beyşehir'e 52 km, Antalya'ya 228 km, Ankara'ya 330 km uzaklıktadır. Arazinin %50'si ormanlarla kaplıdır.
