📖 Its Story
Celep is a neighbourhood of the Kulu district of Konya, Türkiye. It lies about 17 km southwest of the district centre.
In older records the settlement appears as Sevkan or Gundê Simê (1997), Celeb (1928); the present name Celep became established later. The name Sevkan|Gundê Simê is of Kurdish origin, meaning "the name of an Oghuz tribe". It was earlier home to Sunni Kurdish communities; Kurdish (Hanafi Sunni) families settled here later.
