Turgut is a neighbourhood of the Yunak district of Konya, Türkiye. It lies about 21 km southeast of the district centre.
In older records the settlement appears as Turgud/Durgud (1696), Kláneos (535); the present name Turgut became established later. The name Turgud/Durgud is of Turkish origin, meaning "the name of an Oghuz tribe". Turkmen families settled here in a later period.
From Wikipedia
Türklerin Anadolu'ya yerleşmesi sırasında ismini aldığı Turgut Bey'in kontrolüne geçmiştir. Daha sonra Turgutoğulları'nın merkezi olmuştur.
