📖 The Story

It displays finds from Konya and its surroundings spanning millennia. Neolithic objects from Çatalhöyük, richly carved Roman Sidamara-type sarcophagi and mosaics are highlights. It is the first stop for anyone wishing to grasp Anatolia's deep-rooted civilizations.

The museum's star is a third-century Sidamara sarcophagus ringed by reliefs of the twelve labours of Heracles, its carving counted a summit of Roman stonework. Neolithic stamp seals and mother-goddess figurines from Çatalhöyük bring humanity's first urban experiment to eye level.
