📖 Its Story
Yağlıbayat is a neighbourhood of the Karatay district of Konya, Türkiye. It lies about 57 km east of the district centre.
In older records the settlement appears as Mamure (1904), Yağlu Bayad (1530), Sauatra/Soatra/Sabatra (17) (535); the present name Yağlıbayat became established later. The name Yağlu Bayad is of Turkish origin, meaning "the name of an Oghuz tribe". Records associate the settlement with Tatar or Nogai communities.
Historic sites recorded nearby include Savatra Antik Tiyatrosu (~5 km), Savatra (~5 km).

Yakınında bulunan yerleşim yeri, antik dönemde, "kutsal baba" anlamına gelen Savatra olarak anılmaktadır. MÖ 4. yüzyıl yerleşim izleri bulunmaktadır. Önemli bir antik kent olan Savatra kendi adına para basmıştır. MÖ 27'de Romalıların eline geçmiştir. Kalıntılardan Roma döneminde mamur olduğu anlaşılmaktadır.
